This stunning aerial photograph captures the breathtaking scale of the Deepotsav (Festival of Lamps) celebrations in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. Taken at dusk, the image shows the ghats of the Saryu River transformed into a “river of light” by millions of illuminated diyas.

This event, held in November 2023, set a new Guinness World Record for the largest display of oil lamps, with over 2.6 million diyas lit by thousands of volunteers. The lamps are meticulously arranged in intricate patterns, including the auspicious chant “जय श्री राम” (Jai Shri Ram), which is clearly visible on the steps.

In the background, the silhouette of Ayodhya’s temples stands against the twilight sky, which is simultaneously lit by a vibrant display of fireworks. This annual event, celebrating the homecoming of Lord Ram, has become a major global cultural and religious spectacle, drawing millions of tourists and devotees to the holy city.
