Estimating Earthwork Quantities by Daniel B. Atcheson (1992, Trade Paperback)
4th edition of the classic "Estimating Earthwork Quantities", written by Daniel Benn Atcheson (1945-2020) with illustrations by his father James Edward Atcheson (1906-1986). The author's stated intention was to present a practical, easy to understand book that would serve as a comprehensive, realistic, and logically organized training and reference manual dealing with the subject of determining earthwork quantities. As a training manual, the book offers a system of estimating which starts in chapter one and develops throughout the book. It was not meant to be a series of problem-solving techniques alone. The text is divided into two parts. Part one (chapters 1-11) cover the most basic and often encountered problems. Part two (chapters 12-16) shows real, but unusual, situations requiring more complex solution techniques. The book consists of a disclaimer, Table of Contents, Preface, Pearls of Wisdom, 16 chapters, 4 Appendices, and an Index. v + 223pp. Daniel Atcheson was a practicing construction cost estimator who taught classes on the subject for the Engineering Department of Texas Tech. His father, James Atcheson, operated his own architect firm in the Texas panhandle. A photo of them together is on page 95. Trade paperback has yellow covers with black lettering & designs on front & spine. Modest signs of use with rubs, crease in rear cover, but no creases in spine and does have square corners. Text has red pen underlining in first 20 pages, but none noted beyond that. No Ownership markings. Interior is tight and clean. Copyrights 1992, 1986, 1985, 1983. Printed in U.S.A.
